About the artist

Born in San Juan, Gómez Centurión resided in Buenos Aires from 1970 to 1982. In 1988, he studied abroad at the Citè Internationale des Arts in Paris, where he opened his first individual exhibition.

He continued onwards with diverse expositions both in Argentina and abroad: Buenos Aires, Rosario, Córdoba, Tandil, Tucumán, Salta, Ushuaia, Mendoza, San Juan, San Luis, as well as in París, Santiago de Chile, Guayaquil, Quito, Marbella, Zurich, Lima, and Miami, among others. He has been awarded prizes in painting on various occasions in Argentina, Chile and Ecuador. He regularly attends art fairs internationally.

Recently he has filmed a feature-length cinema piece—a fictitious documentary—under the title Digo la Cordillera, cuadernos de viaje (I Speak the Andes: Travel Journals). Gómez Centurión stars in the film alongside Dutch painter Pat Andrea, all under director Ciro Novelli.

He currently splits his living between San Juan and Buenos Aires.

I try to find understand historical moments by going into the context where the events took place, putting together visual art projects that integrate the vision
of other knowledge.

Pegado al cielo

Carlos Gómez Centurión (Argentina) and Pat Andrea (The Netherlands) set off on mules in 2014 to paint the north face of La Aconcagua. This experience has been captured in a feature-length film, and is set to screen at several national and international festivals. He considers painting to be a way of looking at the world, a way of thinking of oneself.
